This year’s opening concert of the festival “Summertime 2018 – Inessa Galante & Friends” will take place in its unusual and extraordinary mood by changing the traditional classical repertoire to easy jazz and retro-pop melodies in the spirit of the legendary performer of ballades – Frank Sinatra.
As the main hero of the evening will be introduced – Tom Gaebel – outstanding singer and composer from Germany, who has earned recognition and love from all over the world by performing Frank Sinatra’s songs. By so expertly imitating Sinatra’s romantic way of performance with his velvety voice Tom Gaebel will certainly create a positive, summery and free spirit for all the concert guests during this year’s visit in Jurmala.
By performing widely known and popular melodies, Tom Gaebel will be accompanied by local jazz band “Jelgavas Big Band” under the lead of conductor – Raitis Ašmanis. With their more than 25 years’ experience “Jelgavas Big Band” has fascinated not only jazz music lovers in Europe but in America as well. Among the artists of Latvia, the band has an excellent co-operation with maestro Raimonds Pauls, Intars Busulis, Marija Naumova, Ieva Kerēvica and other well-known musicians.
And of course, visitors of this concert will be surprised by duets with the beloved artist, world’s famous opera diva and the main festival figure – Inese Galante.
